Nonclassical Radiation from a Single Quantum Dot

چکیده
We report the experimental observation of photon antibunching in the photoluminescence of a chemically synthesized CdSe/ZnS quantum dot (QD) at room temperature and from a single selfassembled InAs/GaAs QD at 4 K. These results prove that a single quantum dot acts like an artificial atom, with a discrete anharmonic spectrum. Using the quantum regression theorem, we find that the normalized second-order correlation function gð2ÞðtÞ can be described by a single exponential function in the weak-laser excitation regime. From this model we derive that the time constant of the photon antibunching signal is determined by the effective incoherent pump and recombination rates of the nonresonant optically pumped QD.

Dynamical evolution of nonclassical properties in cavity quantum electrodynamics with a single trapped ion
In this paper, by considering a system consisting of a single two-level trapped ion interacting with a single-mode quantized radiation field inside a lossless cavity, the temporal evolution of the ionic and the cavity-field quantum statistical properties including photon-counting statistics, quantum fluctuations of the field quadratures and quantum fluctuations of the ionic dipole variables are...
متن کاملGeneration of Nonclassical States of the Radiation Field in the System of a Single Trapped Atom in a Cavity within the First Order of the Lamb-Dicke Approximation
In this paper, we propose a theoretical scheme for the generation of non-classical states of the cavity field in a system of a single trapped atom via controlling the Lamb-Dicke parameter. By exploiting the super-operator method, we obtain an analytical expression for the density operator of the system by which we examine the dynamical behaviors of the atomic population inversion, the phase-spa...

Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) serve as a new class of ‘zero dimensional’ nanomaterial’s in thecarbon class with sizes below 10 nm. As light emitting nanocrystals, QDs are assembled from semiconductormaterials, from the elements in the periodic groups of II-VI, III-V or IV-VI, mainly thanks to impacts of quantum confinement QDs have unique optical properties such as brighter, highly pho...
متن کاملSisyphus Thermalization of Photons in a Cavity-Coupled Double Quantum Dot.
We investigate the nonclassical states of light that emerge in a microwave resonator coupled to a periodically driven electron in a nanowire double quantum dot (DQD). Under certain drive configurations, we find that the resonator approaches a thermal state at the temperature of the surrounding substrate with a chemical potential given by a harmonic of the drive frequency. Away from these therma...
متن کاملRegulated and entangled photons from a single quantum Dot
We propose a new method of generating nonclassical optical field states. The method uses a semiconductor device, which consists of a single quantum dot as active medium embedded in a p- i- n junction and surrounded by a microcavity. Resonant tunneling of electrons and holes into the quantum dot ground states, together with the Pauli exclusion principle, produce regulated single photons or regul...
